I’m trying to pull to test some changes on my staging site, but it keeps saying “Something Bad Happened” after configuring NGINX.

We will be happy to check it further, and before that could you please send the main.log file (application log file) to us (please send it via DM, to me and as well as to my colleague: @Alessandro and @ZachE , so anyone of us can check it when available)? you can check this documentation on how to get that main.log file .
That “Something Bad happened” happened on the 2nd step that is for the “Creating MySQL database” process.
So far, I suspect, there might be an issue with the Access denied thing for the “root” user DB user’s password on your local container. Will look into your main.log file for sure.
